Paper Crafts for Children

This is a lovely cup to fill with treats, we have used food coloring rather than paint to decorate the cup.

You will need a paper cup, food coloring, 2 googly eyes, a cotton wool ball and some colored card

Paint the outside of the cup with the lightest shade of food coloring. Use the cotton wool ball to dab the darker shades of food coloring on the cup.

Cut feather shapes from the card and staple to the cup.

Cut a circle from the card to make the face and glue the eyes, beak and red dangly thingy on. Glue
onto the cup.

Fill with treats!

I love that the egg carton makes a perfect face for this cool turkey decoration.

You will need a paper plate, an egg carton, 2 buttons, some cardboard, some leaves, food coloring, paint and glue

Paint the bottom of the paper plate and leave to dry.

Cut the end two cups from the egg carton including the central peak. Paint the egg carton face with food coloring.

Glue a button to the bottom of each eye.

Cut feather shapes from the card. Write the things you are thankful for on each one.

Glue the dried leaves to the plate. Glue the face in place on the plate.and glue in place.

I am so thankful for paper bags to use in paper crafts. You can use this technique to make all sorts of hat designs as well as this cute Thanksgiving turkey hat.

You will need a square bottom paper bag and some colored card or paper.

Open the paper bag and cut down the center side fold. Glue the sides down to strengthen the hat.

Cut five circles from the colored card and cut one of them in half to become the wings.

Glue the circles together to form the body of the turkey.

Draw in the eyes and glue on the beak.

Glue the turkey to the bottom of the bag.

Check the size of the hat you need by popping it on the child’s head and make a mark.

Cut feather shapes from the card and staple in place at the top of the bag up to the head size mark.
You may need to cut the bag down if it is too long.

This gratitude garland craft is great for Mothers or Fathers day or for Thanksgiving. It is a simple but thoughtful craft which requires no glue so can be done anywhere.

You need paper cut into strips, the paper can be patterned on one side but it needs to be plain on the other so that you can write on it. You also need a pen and small stickers.

On each of the strips of paper write one of the things you are grateful for.

Make a loop with the first strip and use a small sticker to secure the ends together.

Loop the next strip through the first and secure with a sticker.

Continue until all the strips of paper are used.

Add a few tiny details to some hand prints to create turkey pictures with this easy paper craft for children.

I like to mark this very American tradition, as a long time ago we celebrated Thanksgiving while on an American cruise ship in the Caribbean for our honeymoon, so it is special to us as well.

To make this special Thanksgiving turkey you just need to make some suitably colored hand prints, wait for them to dry and then add some turkey details. It is so quick and easy I suggest that you make lots of them!
