What is Collage?
A collage is a picture that is created by gluing items to a surface. The items are usually flat but collage can be made from raised items like dried pasta and seeds. The resulting image will still be relatively flat though. The word collage comes from the French word ‘coller’. It is often used to illustrate a theme, and can use various found materials such as word from magazines, photos, souvenirs from trips, fabric, stickers, anything that can be glued to the surface may be suitable. The example here was made from torn bits of magazine that were used according to color to make this very large A1 size picture.
There are some types of collage that are categorized as a specific technique of their own.
