Owls are such a great craft subject, and there are many beautiful crafts out there for them, but I think this must be one of the easiest crafty owls to make – perfect for little fingers.

This craft is fun to make, but would also be ideal for putting on a gift card!

You need a cup cake case, which you flatten and then fold the top down a little.

Then fold the sides in to make the wings, on a slight angle as pictured.

Finally add some details. The eyes could be googly ones like we have used or you could just draw them on. Use some scraps of card to make some feet and a beak.

A bit of a fancy card, but ever so easy to make.

Such a great idea for a gift! This is perfect for turning a childs drawing into a gift – even a toddlers scribble designs would make a much appreciated present for something like Mothers Day.

The example from Pippi Pipecleaners below uses a very cute design that you can make from craft paper or from left over artwork.

Simple to make, you just need to cut out two identical shapes.

Layer up the shapes and glue some ribbon to the inside of one of the pieces. Glue the two pieces together leaving an opening.

Dab a small amount of scented oil onto a cotton wool ball – if you put too much it will ooze through the paper and may mark clothing. To make sure it will be OK, unroll another ball or two and roll it around the scented one.

Glue the closing shut and it is ready to be given and enjoyed. Just in time for Mothers Day!

Hi Everyone,
Rob the Rookie here, this is my first post. Don’t worry they will be vetted by Sarah to make sure they are up to her standard. I don’t have the crafting skills she has but I do know a few paper activities that I’ll share.

This is a fun game to keep children amused. You will need a piece of paper and 2 pens of different colours. Start out by drawing a start and finish line, then create your race track as shown.

The rules are that each person has to ‘flick’ their pen in the direction they want to head. The end of the flick is where you have got to on that turn. This is highlighted with a ‘dot’. The first person over the finish line wins!

The pen mark has to stay within the race track otherwise they ‘CRASH’. A crash means the player loses a turn. The picture below shows the red car crashing.

Here is our completed game. Yay, the red team won.

Note that these are a complete paper free craft! So in one way, they do not belong on this site, but they were so cute and so easy to make, that we have made an exception for them.

Start with a clean plastic milk bottle.

Cut it roughly in half.

On the side opposite to the handle, cut some ear shapes. Bend the ears up.

Using a permanent marker, draw on some eyes. We also used a red permanent marker and shaded in part of the ears on the back of the ears, or what was the inside of the bottle. Loosen the lid and wrap pipe cleaners around the neck of the bottle opening for whiskers. Tighten the lid, or nose, back up again.

I had fun making this one – I wanted to make something really simple that lots of ages and abilities could enjoy – this one worked for me!

You start by making a really simple basket using two paper plates and a bit of paper for a handle. Cut the top of the paper plates and face them together with a bit of paper folded to make a handle in between them as pictured. Staple the plates together with the ends of the paper handle between them.

You now have a very simple basket that could be decorated in any number of ways. Your young crafter may choose to paint or glitter or collage their basket. I chose to curl it! I curled some strips of paper by rolling them around a pen and then gluing them on to the basket. This is quite a good technique to teach even quite young children to do – they find it quite fun!

Finding a craft that is fun to do is great – pulling your own idea together is even better!

Pippi Pipecleaners had this one pop into her head whilst sorting through easter supplies. When she showed it to me I thought that this would be a really good one for the children to make just before Easter and then sit it beside their bed ready for something to be left in it from Easter Bunny.

It is made with 2 paper plates and some white card. You could decorate it with paint or felts, but this one uses crepe paper for the pink feet and ear bits, and also to make the ‘nest’

Cut a circle from the base of one of the plates. Save the circle as you will use this for the face.

Glue the plates together so they are facing each other.

Cut two feet shapes out of the white card and glue the crepe paper toe pads in place.

Trim the circle, from the plate, to size for the bunny’s face. Cut a pair of ears and draw the face on with the black marker. Miss Pipecleaners reckons that she can’t draw at all, so a trick she uses is to google image something she need to draw – in this case a bunny face. Then she picks the one that fits her needs and confidence.

Glue the ears to the head and leave to dry.

Cut strips from the crepe paper and then pull the strips apart. Although this may seem really obvious, I had not thought of cutting crepe paper like this to make shredded style paper – I really like it!

Place in the tummy of the bunny and glue the feet in place.

Glue the head in place and fill the tummy with treats.
