Origami Stalk and Leaf Tutorial
Apr 20th, 2010 by Craftylocks

Another of the paper crafts for children that has a very short materials list. All you need for this one is a piece of square paper! Once you have finished it you will also need an origami flower. Here is a handy Origami Tulip Tutorial.

origami_crease Fold the paper to make a triangle, crease and unfold.
origami_leaf origami_leaf2 Fold the sides in to line up with the center crease to make a kite
shape. Fold the sides in again to line up with the center crease.
origami_leaf3 Fold the small edge sides in to line up with the center crease as well.
origami_leaf4 origami_leaf5 Fold the wide end over so that the point is part way along the center crease. Fold in half along the center crease.
origami_leaf6 Pull the shorter piece out to form the leaf. Crease the bottom firmly.
origami_tulip-leaf Glue the stalk onto an origami flower.

Gift for Teacher

Star box for star teacher

starbox-teacher-giftMy daughters student teacher was due to finish the next day, we had left it more then a little late for organizing a gift!! She and I both like making something for a gift but we did not have time to create a papier mache briefcase, or an origami suit, or any other fantastical creation. However we did have the 5 minutes that it takes to create this great paper crafts for children container, a star box to contain some handy dandy stationery treats. So the next day she very proudly handed over her gift to Mr K. Thanks Mr K, I hope you have a fantastic teaching career!

If you need a last minute gift from your children then have a look at the Origami Star Box Tutorial or download the PDF Worksheet – How to Make a Star Box, the boxes can be made any size for all sorts of treats.

Origami Star Box Tutorial

This is one of those ‘not much needed’ paper crafts for children. All need is some square paper to craft up this super star box

starbox14 Start with a square piece of paper. Make four folds across the paper.
starbox2 Bring the top and bottom corners together and tuck in the other two sides.
starbox3 With the opening at the top, fold one side along to the central fold.
starbox4 Open up the flap and press it open.
starbox5 Tuck the side of the flap under itself.
starbox6 Now do the same to the other flap on that side, turn it over and repeat on the other side.
starbox8 Fold the four flaps down as far as you can.
starbox11 Pull the flaps open and push the bottom of the star box against a table, using your hand inside the box to make the shape.
starbox12 Wow – beautiful, now it just needs to be filled with treats or a present for someone!

Origami Star Box

Easy Peasy Starry Boxes.

star-boxI tend to be a bit speedy when I make things, not so careful on the measuring and the details, so to increase the chance of success I called in a friend who actually measures and lines things up – imagine that!! So of course hers looked divine, she even made a teeny weeny star box – sooo cute. But it works out that even if made with more enthusiasm than care, they still work out just fine – as proven by my children who soon mastered this paper craft too. We thought that they could look better with the patterned side on the inside. Either way is effective for packaging a pressie, kids party bags, or even disposable party food containers.

Enough about the fun we had – find out how to make this paper crafts for children favorite for yourself … Star Box Tutorial or Worksheet – How to make a Star Box PDF.
